Fountain and Morrell Sworn in as Police Captains

The Manalapan Police Department welcomes two new Captains

Judge James M. Newman officially swore in Michael Fountain and Jeffrey Morrell as Captains of the at the Township Committee meeting Wednesday night.

Morrell and Fountain, who both served as Lieutenants of the department, were advanced in rank last month after .

Both men had their family in tow, standing beside them as they had their hand on the Bible and took an official oath of office. Retired Howell Police Chief Harvey Morrell was also sitting in the audience in support his son.

Two additional patrolmen, Matthew Meyler and Phillip Accatatta, took the oath of office as they were sworn in by Newman on Wednesday.

Chief Marsala offered his gratitude to the Township Committee saying that these promotions and additional hires were “much needed” for the department.

“It’s a proud day for Manalapan and the police department,” Township Committeeman and Public Safety liaison Jordan Maskowitz said. “I think we have them moving in the right direction. We have a lot to be proud of and we have a lot more to look forward to.”
