Manalapan Police reported three incidents of harassment from June 3 through June 9.

MANALAPAN, NJ — Manalapan Police reported incidents of harassment, identity theft, fraud and more from June 3 through June 9.

June 3

A Massapequa, NY, man was found to be in possession of a controlled dangerous substance and drug paraphernalia, and to have an outstanding traffic warrant out of Freehold Township for $1,000. The man was arrested and brought to the Manalapan Township Police Department, where he was processed and brought to the Monmouth County Correctional Institution.

At 7:32 a.m., Ptlm. Christopher Kessler responded to a business on Freehold Road for a complaint of bad checks. Upon arrival, the complainant, who is an employee of the business, reported that in May 2026 a customer had written a bad check worth $4,750.75 after they received products. The check did not pass, and the business is at a monetary loss of $4,750.75. This case is pending further investigation.

A Manalapan resident reported that their neighbor was verbally harassing them regarding a noise complaint.

At 10:41 p.m., patrol officers were dispatched to a business along U.S. Highway 9 in reference to a burglar alarm activation. Upon arrival, it was determined that unknown actor(s) had forcibly entered the business and stole an unknown amount of merchandise. The Manalapan Township Police Department Detective Bureau responded to investigate the incident. Two 17-year-olds were subsequently charged with burglary and criminal mischief and were released pending a future court date.

June 4

A 60-year-old Manalapan resident reported that they have been receiving ongoing harassing communications from the accused. The victim was referred to the Manalapan Township Municipal Court to sign complaints.

During a motor vehicle stop on U.S. Highway 9 South, a driver was found to be in possession of a controlled dangerous substance and drug paraphernalia. The driver was arrested and processed at the Manalapan Township Police Department. He was later released with a future court date.

June 5

A 57-year-old Manalapan resident said that over the last several months, unknown actor(s) have tried to fraudulently open several credit cards in their name. The attempts were unsuccessful, and the victim is not at a monetary loss at this time.

An 83-year-old Manalapan resident reported being harassed and threatened by a contractor doing work at their home. The victim just wished to document the incident and did not wish to pursue complaints.

At 7:09 p.m., Ptlm. Anthony Lampasona responded to the lobby of police headquarters for a theft by extortion complaint. Upon arrival, the victim was identified as a 43-year-old Manalapan resident. It was reported that on June 5, the victim received several text messages and telephone calls attempting to extort them for $10,000. The victim did not provide any money to the accused actor(s) and has not experienced any monetary loss at this time.

June 8

A 45-year-old Manalapan resident reported that they mailed a check to pay their month’s rent, and the check was altered and cashed in the amount of $1,715 by unknown actor(s).

A 45-year-old Manalapan resident reported the theft of a bicycle. The victim reported their child’s bicycle, valued at $1,500, was reportedly stolen in the area of Route 33 and Sweetmans Lane.

June 9

At 11:43 a.m., Ptlm. Christopher Kessler responded to a retail store on Route 9 South in Manalapan for a report of a shoplifting. The case is pending further investigation and complaints.

At 7:42 p.m., Ptlm. Max Garris responded to a call for an intoxicated person on Sweetmans Lane in Manalapan. A driver was charged with operating his vehicle while under the influence. The driver was arrested and brought to Manalapan Police Headquarters, where he was processed and released pending court.
