Man Stole Motorcycle in Manalapan Craigslist Sale, Police Say

Yet another Craigslist sale has gone awry in Monmouth County, this time involving a Freehold man.

MANALAPAN, NJ - Yet another Craigslist sale has gone awry in Monmouth County. A North Carolina man was indicted last week after police said he stole a motorcycle from a Freehold man who tried to sell it on Craigslist.

The 26-year-old Freehold man listed an ad for his 2011 Honda CBR 1000 motorbike on Craigslist and Joshua Burke, 22, of Fayetteville, North Carolina responded, saying he was interested in buying the bike, police said.

The two arranged to meet at the Manalapan Best Buy shopping plaza off Rt. 9 on Sept. 2, where Burke said he would take the bike for a test drive. Instead, he drove off and never returned, police said. Manalapan police sent out an alert for Burke "described as a white male, approximately 30 years old with a modified beard and small ponytail, wearing a dark shirt with green writing, blue jeans and dark shoes."
