Municipal and County Council Candidates Released; Englishtown Mayor Runs Unopposed
Candidates file to run for seats on the Manalapan township council, the Englishtown borough council, and the Monmouth County Borough of Chosen Freeholders.
By 4 p.m. Monday, April 11 all candidates have filed to participate in the upcoming election year. And on the borough and township level, not much change is expected.
Borough of Englishtown Mayor Thomas E. Reynolds will run unopposed this primary election year, nominated by the Republican party. The Mayor is voted in by residents of Englishtown for a four-year term of office; Reynolds has been the Mayor of Englishtown since the year 2000.
Cecilia (Cindy) Robilotti and Rudolph Rucker, both designees of the Monmouth County Republican Party, are incumbents of the borough council running for re-election this year; two seats on the council are open, each for a three-year term.

Manalapan Mayor Andrew Lucas is a one year mayor whose term expires on Dec. 31 of this year. The Manalapan Township Council determine who will be mayor next year.
There are two open seats on the Manalapan Township Council, however. Republican Susan Cohen () and Democrat Seth Ptasiewicz will be running with incumbents Republican Donald Holland () and Democrat Michelle Roth.

At the county level, two Board of Chosen Freeholder seats and a surrogate position are up for election. Republican Freeholder Lillian G. Burry, of Colts Neck, and Democratic Freeholder Amy Mallet, of Fair Haven, are seeking another three-year term. Burry’s running mate will be Gary Rick, of Spring Lake, while Mallet’s will be William Shea, of Howell. Democrat Michael Steinhorn, of Rumson, will look to unseat Republican Monmouth County Surrogate Rosemarie D. Peters.
Primary elections will take place on Tuesday, June 7, and the general election will take place on Tuesday, Nov. 8.
