Manalapan Police Increase Presence In High Traffic Areas
Police remind residents to report-- but not approach-- any suspicious packages.

Manalapan Police have increased their presence in "high traffic" areas, according to a post on the Manalapan Township Police Department's Facebook page. Extra police will be stationed at schools as well. The increase is in response to the recent bombs in Seaside Park, Manhattan and Elizabeth.
"In response to the recent incidents of Improvised Explosive Devices in New York and New Jersey, the Manalapan Police Department Watch Commanders have instructed their officers to remain extremely vigilant and to increase patrols in high traffic commercial areas and schools throughout the town," the post reads in part.
Police urged residents to report any suspicious packages to police immediately, but to not approach the packages under any circumstances.

Manalapan is served by the Aberdeen-Matawan and Hazlet New Jersey Transit train stations. Police have increased their presence at the Abderdeen-Matawan stations in response to the events in Elizabeth. Social media reports indicate that Hazlet has also increased police presence; Patch has contacted officials for confirmation.
Commuters using either of those stations can expect extensive delays today, as a result of the events in Elizabeth. Multiple North Jersey Coast Line trains from Long Branch have been cancelled, and others are running with extensive delays. Riders should check @NJTransit and @NJTRANSIT_NJCL on Twitter for the most up-to-date information on their commute.
