Manalapan Student Win National Merit Scholarship

A student from Manalapan is among the winners of National Merit Scholarships.

Students from around the state have won:

• National Achievement Scholarships, which honors some 800 outstanding black high school seniors
• College-Sponsored Merit Scholarships: some 2,200 students have won these scholarships, which are financed by U.S. colleges and universities.
• Corporate-Sponsored Merit Scholarship Winners: more than 1,000 distinguished high school seniors have been been awarded these scholarships, which are financed by corporations, company foundations, and other business organizations.
• National Merit $2500 Scholarship Winners: some 2,500 Merit Scholars were chosen from a pool of more than 15,000 finalists.

Michelle Lee, of Manalapan, who attends High Technology High School in the Lincroft section of Middletown, was among the Corporate-Sponsored Merit Scholarship winners. She won the Citizen Watch Scholarship.
