Marsala Begins as New Chief of Police Today
Marsala will be officially sworn in by the Township Committee on May 9.

At last week’s Manalapan Township Committee meeting, the committee adopted a resolution appointing Capt. Chris Marsala as the new Police Chief starting today, as Chief of Police Lou Moreto’s retirement went became effective today.
Maskowitz thanked Moreto for his dedication and commitment to the safety of the Manalapan residents. “Lou was an integral part in bringing up our police department to the level it is currently with a state and federal accreditation,” Maskowitz said. “It is a department we are all proud of and I applaud you Lou.”
Maskowitz made a motion to adopt a resolution to appoint Marsala as the new Chief of Police effective May 1. The formal swearing in ceremony of Marsala will take place at the next Township Committee meeting on Wednesday, May 9.
The board unanimously agreed to adopt the resolution naming Marsala the new Chief of Police.
Marsala, who is the current public informations officer for the , said he will soon be appointing a new police officer to handle that position.
