Monroe Woman, 79, ID'd As Person Killed In South Brunswick Crash

South Brunswick police identified the woman killed in the fatal Rt. 130 crash​ in South Brunswick that occurred on Wednesday, July 17.

SOUTH BRUNSWICK, NJ — South Brunswick police identified the woman killed in Wednesday's fatal Rt. 130 crash.

She was named by police as Dorothy Demeo, 79, of Monroe.

The accident occurred at Rt. 130 and Distribution Way at 1:06 p.m. Wednesday, and involved two cars, a Volkswagon Jetta and Nissan. Preliminary indications are that the Volkswagen was headed southbound and the Nissan was heading northbound prior to the collision in the intersection.

Police say a 20-year-old woman from New Egypt was driving the 2019 VW Jetta south on Rt. 130 and the 2008 Nissan being driven by a South Brunswick woman, 68, who was making a left from Rt. 130 north onto Distribution Way. The Monroe woman, Demeo, was a passenger in the VW.

She was transported to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick where she was pronounced dead.

Rt. 130 south was closed for three hours as accident investigators pieced the scene together. The highway was reopened just after 4 p.m.
