Iron Ore Bridge Reopens

The Iron Ore Bridge replacement project was scheduled to last until Labor Day, but has finished ahead of schedule.

The Iron Ore Bridge over North Brook re-opened on Monday, several days ahead of schedule.

Iron Ore Road (Route 527a) has been closed between Dey Grove Road and Mount Vernon Road since last spring while the bridge is being replaced by the Monmouth County Department of Public Works and Engineering.

The project began in April and was originally supposed to be completed in July but utility relocations delayed it by several months. The county had predicted the work would be done by Labor Day weekend
