Sex Allegations At Massage Envy In Manalapan/Freehold

Segovia was charged with having oral sex with one female client at Massage Envy in Englishtown, and having sex with another female client.

MANALAPAN, NJ — The state of New Jersey has permanently revoked the license of a Monmouth County massage therapist for allegedly engaging in inappropriate sexual contact with two female clients during massage therapy sessions at Massage Envy spas in 2013.

The spas were located in Freehold and Englishtown/Manalapan.

The State Board of Massage and Bodywork Therapy, which falls under the Division of Consumer Affairs and is overseen by the New Jersey Attorney General, allege that Steven A. Segovia committed acts of gross negligence and professional misconduct. Segovia was charged with having oral sex with one female client during a massage therapy session at Massage Envy in Englishtown, and having sexual intercourse with another female client during a massage therapy session at Massage Envy in Freehold, according to Attorney General Gurbir Grewal.

Both women were 52 years old at the time.

Segovia admitted to engaging in consensual oral sex with one woman, but denied engaging in inappropriate sexual contact with the other. He agreed to the permanent revocation of his license to resolve the allegations against him.

New Jersey state law prohibits massage therapists from from engaging in sexual contact with clients, even if the sex is consensual.

Segovia is permanently barred from practicing massage and bodywork therapy in New Jersey. He also is required to reimburse the State $5,000 for investigation and prosecution costs.
