Two More Cars Broken Into At Manalapan Rec Center, Police Say

Breaking: Someone is targeting cars parked at the Rec Center, police say. Three cars total have been broken into so far in June.

MANALAPAN, NJ — Not one, but two more cars were broken into while parked at the Manalapan Recreation Center on Rt. 522, police report.

Earlier this month, Patch reported that someone broke into a car parked in the Rec Center parking lot on Memorial Day and stole a woman's Coach pocketbook. Her car was locked at the time, police said, and the suspects forced their way inside. That incident happened sometime before 6 p.m. on Memorial Day Monday, May 29.

Now, Manalapan police say two more cars have been broken into while parked in the same lot, on Monday and Tuesday of last week:

At approximately 7:05 p.m. last Monday, June 5, a 46-year-old Manalapan resident reported that their vehicle was forcibly entered while parked in the rec center parking lot. A purse and contents valued at $695 were stolen. The burglary is believed to have occurred between 6:45 p.m. and 7:05 p.m.

Then, one day later, at approximately 4:58 p.m. on Tuesday, June 6, a 40-year-old Monroe resident came into police headquarters to report that her car had been burglarized, as well. Someone entered her vehicle while it was parked in the rec center parking lot between 6:00 and 7:30 p.m. that day. A purse containing her makeup valued at approximately $350 was stolen.

Manalapan police are reminding residents to lock their vehicles and to not leave items of value in plain view.
