Woman Hit By Car In Manalapan On Franklin Lane

A Manalapan woman was hit by a car last Thursday crossing Franklin Lane, a Rt. 9 side road. People crossing Rt. 9 are often hit by cars.

MANALAPAN, NJ — A 55-year-old Manalapan woman was hit by a car last Thursday night crossing Franklin Lane, a side road off Rt. 9.

The woman was not seriously injured, however, and she was actually given a summons by police for improperly crossing the road. People are often struck by cars trying to cross Rt. 9 in Manalapan: The most recent incident happened in late December of last year when a 62-year-old Marlboro woman was hit by a car trying to cross the intersection of Rt. 9 north and Taylors Mills Road. She was hit by a 71-year-old Manalapan resident.

The accident happened at 6:47 p.m. last Thursday, Feb. 1 in the area of 50 Franklin Lane. The woman was trying to cross Franklin Lane when she was hit by a car headed north on Franklin driven by a 25-year-old Manalapan resident. The woman was wearing dark clothing and crossing Franklin Lane in a dark area not designated with a crosswalk when she was struck, police said.

She sustained non-life threatening injuries and was transported to CentraState.

The driver remained at the scene and did not sustain any injuries. He was issued summonses for not having his registration and insurance card with him at the time of the crash.
