Coastal Monmouth Beach Weather Report For Aug. 11, 2016

Cloudy, possible thunderstorms, brisk winds at the beach today.

The National Weather Service is calling for mostly cloudy skies with isolated showers and thunderstorms late today and into the evening.

Highs will be in the mid-80s. Beach winds will be from the southwest at 10 miles per hour, increasing to 15 miles per hour, with gusts up to 20 miles per hour this afternoon.

The surf will be around three feet, with a southeast swell from one to two feet. The water temperature is 76 degrees. The rip current risk is moderate, which means that wind or wave conditions could support stronger or more frequent rip currents. Always have a flotation device with you in the water and swim only in guarded areas. Discuss any possible surf zone hazards with the lifeguards.

The lightning risk today is moderate which means there is a chance of thunderstorms. The UV index is an 8, which the NWS considers high.

Low tide at Belmar was at 7:53 a.m. High tide will roll in at 2:23 p.m., followed by another low tide at 8:49 p.m.
