Dempsey: 'Devastation of Record Proportion'

Manasquan Mayor George Dempsey said Hurricane Sandy caused devastation of record proportion, according to a statement released Tuesday. 

"I am confident in the resolve and strength of our residents, volunteers and the emergency personnel and staff to pull ourselves together and return normalcy to the community," Dempsey said. "That is what makes Manasquan, Manasquan."

A local disaster recovery information hotline has been set up at 732-223-0544, ext. 238. Someone is also on staff at Borough Hall to address anyone without phone capabilities. 

Any individuals interested in volunteering can also call or walk in, DeIorio said. 

The administrator urged residents to monitor the borough's website, Facebook and Twitter feeds for updates.
