Elisa Ramos: Transforming Grief into Purpose Through Life Coaching and Children’s Books

In a world where self-doubt often holds people back from their potential, Elisa Ramos has made it her mission to help others.

In a world where self-doubt often holds people back from their potential, Elisa Ramos has made it her mission to help others discover the power of belief, action, and resilience. A former HR and Risk Management professional turned life coach and author, Ramos draws from both her professional experience and profound personal loss to guide individuals toward meaningful lives.

“I think the core issue for sure is that people often don’t believe in themselves, and they don’t realize what’s possible if they’re willing to do the work,” Ramos said. “It’s not just self-doubt; sometimes it’s a hesitation to take those necessary steps. I guide people to uncover a passionate ‘why’ that fuels them. Once they start taking small actions toward that vision, they see progress, and suddenly, they realize they can achieve more than they ever thought.

”Ramos’s journey into helping others began in human resources, where she found deep fulfillment in supporting people through conflicts and personal challenges. But everything changed when she lost her son, Anthony. The tragedy brought a new perspective on life’s fragility and purpose.

“My HR and Risk Management journey started with a desire to help people through challenges, whether conflicts or personal needs,” she explained. “That role taught me the fulfillment of guiding people toward resolution. But when I lost my son, I learned there can be purpose in pain. It humbles you and makes you deeply grateful for each day. It’s an unfortunate, yet profound gift to see life more clearly. Both paths led me to life coaching: to help others find meaning in their struggles, live with purpose, and appreciate the life they have…because we only get one.

”This dual foundation—professional expertise and lived experience—now informs her coaching practice, where she emphasizes self-worth and forward momentum.

“The core message I want people to take away is never to give up on themselves,” Ramos shared. “No matter what you’ve been through, you still have value. When challenges come, you must take action, because while doors may open, you have to step through them. I also deeply believe in the power of affirmations and how you speak to yourself. We might grow up in difficult circumstances, but that doesn’t define our future. Whether you believe in God, the universe, or another higher power, I believe we’re meant for better things. But we have to start by speaking highly to ourselves, training our mind to believe we are capable.

”Ramos’s commitment to empowerment extends beyond adults. What began as a simple creative goal evolved into a heartfelt project honoring her son’s memory. Long aspiring to write a book, she started with a children’s story—short, achievable, and inspired by rainbow baby, Ayden and his comfort bear.

“It all began in a spontaneous way. I’d always wanted to write a book but never finished,” Ramos recalled. “One day, I thought…a children’s book is short and achievable, let’s do it! My rainbow baby Ayden, with his comfort bear, inspired the first book, simply about adventure and comfort.

After publishing the first book, a friend’s suggestion to donate copies and bears to a hospital sparked something bigger. The gesture connected directly to the care her family received during Anthony’s illness, leading Ramos to establish a nonprofit dedicated to giving back.

“That’s when it clicked! I thought to myself, ok this is how I can give back to the hospital that helped my son and my family through the toughest times. This tied my son’s memory to giving back. That act of service sparked my nonprofit, and it all evolved,” she said.

Building on that momentum, Ramos released a second children’s book focused on affirmations, aiming to instill self-belief in young readers early on.

“With my coaching, I teach adults to believe in themselves and take action. I realized I could bring this to children, too. That’s why the second book focused on affirmations, empowering kids early, so they grow up believing in themselves, just like I teach adults.

”Through her coaching, books, and nonprofit work, Elisa Ramos continues to remind people that pain can become a purpose, and that self-belief—paired with consistent action—can open doors to a brighter future. Her story serves as a powerful testament that no matter the challenges faced, every individual holds the potential for growth, gratitude, and lasting impact.
