Manasquan Police Promote Sergeant
Sgt. Greg Restivo promoted after 10 years on borough force
The Manasquan police force on Monday received a new sergeant after Mayor George Dempsey swore in Greg Restivo, a 10-year veteran of the borough's department.
Before a packed chambers of family, friends and fellow officers, and flanked by Chief Elliot Correia, his wife and two children, Restivo recited the oath vowing to protect the U.S. Constitution and carry out his duties to protect and serve the law.
Restivo, of East Main Street, has spent the last 12 years as a cop -- two in Clifton before transferring to Manasquan -- and will "no doubt make a fine sergeant," Correia said.

Restivo has a criminal justice degree from William Patterson University and serves as the department's self-defense trainer, Correia said.
"(Restivo) is a good officer -- a very active and aggressive member of our department," Correia said.

Along with the new rank, Restivo also received a pay raise. The 2012 salary for his new position is $102,713 per year.
The borough also promoted Robert Wagner III from provisional to permanent police officer.
Wagner, of East Virginia Avenue, will receive the same salary he did in his previous position.
