Search Continues For Missing Swimmer Swept In Jersey Shore Rip Current

The Coast Guard said Sunday that they were still searching for a missing swimmer swept away in a rip current off the Jersey Shore.

The Coast Guard, as well as state and local agencies, said Sunday that they were still searching for a missing swimmer swept away in a rip current off the Jersey Shore.

The Coast Guard was notified of a 31-year old man who reportedly was swept out to sea while swimming at Bradley Beach on Saturday, at approximately 7 p.m.

Watchstanders from Coast Guard Sector Delaware Bay launched an MH-65 Dolphin search and rescue helicopter crew from Air Station Atlantic City, according to the Coast Guard.

The chief of police in Bradley Beach told News 12 that the search has now turned into a recovery operation.

The guard also launched a 29-foot response boat from Coast Guard Station Shark River and Station Manasquan Inlet to join the New Jersey State Police, Bradley Police Department and Belmar Water Rescue Team in the search.

The 87-foot Coast Guard cutter Bonito is on-scene and searched throughout the night.
