150 Reasons To Celebrate: Manchester Marks 150th Birthday

A daylong extravaganza on Saturday will highlight the town's history as well as provide fun for all ages.

PREVIOUSLY:

In the summer of 1865, as the nation was just beginning to pick up the pieces from the Civil War, the Township of Manchester set up government for the first time.

This weekend, the town will be celebrating that beginning with a daylong celebration at Harry Wright Lake, with fun -- and history lessons, too -- for people of all ages.

There will be free children’s rides, food vendors, contests, prizes and giveaways with WJRZ, nonprofit organizations, live music and a fireworks finale. Bring blankets or chairs for the fireworks.

The celebration is free and begins at noon at the park, which is accessible from Lake Road. Take Route 530 to Station Road, just east of the Route 539 intersection, to get there.
