2 Injured When Car Runs Off Route 571, Hits Pole In Manchester
Manchester police said a South Toms River man and a Berkeley Township woman suffered serious injuries in the crash early Friday.
MANCHESTER, NJ — Two people were injured when a car ran off the road on Route 571 and hit a utility pole early Friday morning, Manchester Township police said.
Jamier Mcleod, 19, of South Toms River, and Ivanalai Garcia, 19, of Berkeley Township, were taken to hospitals following the crash that happened about 4:40 a.m. on Friday, Manchester Capt. Vincent Manco said.
Mcleod was driving an Acura TSX wet on Route 571 when he lost control of the car and ran off the road near Kingsridge Road, hitting the pole and coming to a stop in the woods, Manco said. Mcleod was not wearing a seatbelt, he said.

Mcleod was taken to Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune, for treatment of possible internal injuries. Garcia was taken to Community Medical Center, Toms River, for treatment of a head injury, Manco said.
The crash remains under investigation, but investigators said the road was wet and there was a light rain and slight fog at the time of the crash, Manco said.

Assisting at the scene were the Ridgeway Volunteer Fire Department and Manchester Volunteer Fire Department, paramedics from Robert Wood Johnson, and Manchester Emergency Medical Services. Jersey Central Power & Light responded to repair the pole.
Sgt. Paul Bachovchin of the Manchester Township Police Department Traffic Safety section is investigating.
