2 Stabbed At Gas Station Near Jackson Outlets

Police are searching for 2 men; one demanded cash from the victims, claiming they owed him money, then swung a knife and injured both.

JACKSON, NJ — Two men are being sought in connection with a stabbing that injured two men on Friday night outside the Sunoco on Monmouth Road in Jackson, police said Monday.

Jackson police were called to the Sunoco near Jackson Premium Outlets at 9:43 p.m. Friday, Capt. Steve Laskiewicz said, for a report of a fight. A store employee told police an argument started inside the store that continued outside and may have involved a knife, Laskiewicz said.

Those involved had left the gas station before police arrived, but Jackson police headquarters received a call from CentraState Medical Center in Freehold Township that two men had shown up at the emergency room with stab wounds and may have been involved in the incident, he said.

Those men, a 23-year-old and a 29-year-old, told police they were inside the store at the Sunoco when a man approached them, claiming they owed him money and demanding it. The man left the store, but when the two victims left, the man was waiting, they said. He confronted them and punched one of the victims, then produced a small knife and began swinging it at them, Laskiewicz said.

One of the victims sustained cuts to his hand and the other was stabbed on the arm, Laskiewicz said. The victims told police the attacker was assisted by a second man, who pulled one of the victims away by the neck so that the two suspects could get away, he said.

The attacker was described as a Hispanic male, about 5 feet, 8 inches tall with a husky build and short, dark hair and glasses. The second man was described as a black male with a thin build with short dark hair. They left the scene in a light blue vehicle, Laskiewicz said.
