Being Safe On The Road Focus of 'Staying Safe in Manchester' Program

Residents are invited to learn from Manchester Township’s traffic safety experts how they can protect themselves while on the road during the final “Staying Safe in Manchester Township” information session on Monday, Nov. 17.

From 6 to 8 p.m. at the 21 Colonial Drive Ocean County Library branch, Patrolmen Doug Higgins and Antonio Ellis of the Manchester Township Police Traffic Safety Section will discuss “The Three E’s” of traffic safety -- Education, Engineering and Enforcement.

“We’ll show residents what they can do to ensure the safety of themselves and others while driving, biking and walking, as well what law enforcement and engineers are doing to enhance the safety of our roadways,” Patrolman Higgins said.

Both Patrolmen Higgins and Ellis are Police Academy Instructors and members of the Ocean County Fatal Accident Support Team. Their presentation will give an overall view of the professional standards adhered to during a crash investigation. The tools and equipment used to investigate crashes also will be explained.

The “Staying Safe in Manchester Township” series began in June and each month since has covered topics including emergency preparedness, school security, and scam prevention. Those who attend all sessions will receive a certificate of completion.
