Election 2020: 5 Seeking Seats On Manchester School Board

MANCHESTER, NJ — Five people have filed petitions seeking election to the Manchester Township Board of Education in November.

The Ocean County Clerk's office released the names of the five candidates, whose petitions were filed by 4 p.m. Monday, the deadline to be on the Nov. 3 ballot.

There are four candidates seeking the three, three-year terms on the board, and one seeking a one-year unexpired term. School board members do not receive a salary; it is a volunteer position.

Incumbents James "Ken" Pate and Melanie Biscardi are seeking re-election to the board, and they are joined on the "For the Children" slate by Tony Goltsch.

Laura Wingler is running under the "Better Educational Technology" slogan.

George J. Cervenak III is seeking the one-year unexpired term vacated when Christopher Nolan resigned in June.

Pate served on the board for 21 years before he was defeated in the 2016 election; he was re-elected to the board in 2017. Biscardi won election to her first term in 2017. Goltsch ran unsuccessfully in 2018.

Wingler is an e-learning instructional designer at Ocean County College.

Jennifer Hudak, the board vice president, is not seeking re-election.
