Manchester Death Investigation Continuing: Prosecutor

Authorities were releasing few details in connection with a death in Leisure Village West.

MANCHESTER, NJ — The investigation into a death at a Leisure Village West home was continuing Monday evening, hours after authorities were called to the home for an injured person.

A joint news release distributed Monday evening, more than 8 hours after authorities were first called, said little more than just that a death had occurred.

"There is no danger to the public," the statement from Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer and Manchester Police Chief Lisa Parker said.

"This is an ongoing investigation," the news release said. "More information will be forthcoming."

A reader who submitted photos of the scene said the incident was at a home on Cambridge Circle, one of the main thoroughfares through Leisure Village West. Traffic was not being allowed into the area where the home is, and the streets that back up to the home were blocked off as well, the reader said.

It was not clear whether those blockades remained in place Monday evening.

Among the vehicles at the scene were three units from the Ocean County Sheriff's Office Crime Scene Investigation unit and a patrol car from Seaside Park, the reader said.

Several of the officers were heavily armed, the reader said. The Asbury Park Press reported the county's SWAT team was sent to the home in response to the call about the injured party.

This report has been updated with a brief statement from the prosecutor's office.
