The man suffered a leg injury as he and others tried to help the driver control her car, police said.

MANCHESTER, NJ — A man who went to try to help a driver after she hit two vehicles was injured when he was hit by car as well, Manchester police said.

John D. Dekyne III, 32, suffered a minor injury to his right leg and was taken to Community Medical Center in Toms River for treatment following the crash that happened Tuesday shortly after noon, Manchester Capt. Vincent Manco said.

Eleanor Finke, 84, of Manchester, was driving a 2002 Lexus S4 east on Columbus Boulevard when she hit a parked 2021 Penske rental truck, Manco said. After she hit the truck, which was unoccupied, Finke's car accelerated and she hit a parked 2016 Chevrolet Suburban, he said. Both of those vehicles were unoccupied.
