MANCHESTER, NJ — A Manchester Township man has been ordered held until trial on a strict liability charge in connection with a fatal overdose, authorities said.

D'Andre Tubbs, 33, was ordered to remain in the Ocean County Jail on Wednesday by Superior Court Judge Guy P. Ryan, Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer said.

Tubbs was charged last week with strict liability for a drug-induced death in connection with an Aug. 16 overdose of a 35-year-old Manchester man.

Authorities allege Tubbs sold heroin and fentanyl to the man the day before his overdose death, and traces of those were found in the man's body, according to a toxicology report the prosecutor's office received last week.

Tubbs was arrested Aug. 19 and charged with three counts of distribution of heroin, two counts of possession of heroin, and one count each of possession of alprazolam, possession of a hypodermic syringe, and possession of drug paraphernalia, authorities said. He has been held in the Ocean County Jail since his arrest.
