Manchester Man Stabs Father Multiple Times In Argument: Police

MANCHESTER, NJ — A Manchester Township man is hospitalized after he was stabbed multiple times by his son during fight at their home, Mancheser police said Sunday evening.

Christopher Kenny, 46, was flown to Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune for treatment of multiple stab wounds to the abdomen, arm, and chest, Manchester Capt. Todd Malland said. "Despite receiving multiple stab wounds, his injuries do not appear to be life-threatening," Malland said. He was listed as stable Sunday evening, Malland said.

Sage Kenny, 20, was arrested and charged with attempted murder, aggravated assault, terroristic threats, unlawful possession of a weapon, and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, Malland said. Sage Kenny is being held at the Ocean County Jail, Toms River, awaiting a detention hearing.

Malland said police were called to Pine Acres Manor mobile home park about 7:30 a.m. Sunday for a report of a disturbance and found Christopher Kenny lying in the street bleeding heavily from his torso.

The initial investigation found the father and son got into an argument after Sage Kenny punched the family television and started breaking things around the house, Malland said. When Christopher Kenny confronted his son about breaking the items, the fight turned physical, Malland said.

The two men eventually ended up outside in front of the home and continued to fight, he said.

According to witnesses, while the two were outside, Sage Kenny began yelling at his father, telling him he was going to kill him, and brandished a knife and stabbed his father multiple times, Malland said.

Sage Kenny was arrested at the scene without incident, Malland said.

The incident remains under investigation by Manchester Detectives Richard Jupinka and Adam Guker.

Assisting at the scene were detectives from the Ocean County Sheriff’s Office Crime Scene Investigations Unit, members of the Manchester Volunteer First Aid Squad and Manchester Volunteer Fire Department as well as paramedics from MONOC, Malland said.
