Manchester Schools To Reopen Monday After Threat Investigation
Those who started the false rumors that led to the school closures will face consequences, the superintendent said.

MANCHESTER, NJ — Classes are set to resume Monday in the Manchester Township School District following an investigation that found rumors of a threat at the high school were not credible.
Manchester Schools Superintendent David Trethaway said Manchester Township police investigated statements that were made Thursday night and were confident that there was no danger to students or staff.

"The statements that were made last night and investigated were a direct result of the previous incident that was also fully investigated," Trethaway said in an update posted to the school district's website.
He said the police department spoke with people who were involved in the statements, and the high school administration will be meeting with anyone identified as spreading false rumors.

"These individuals will face consequences for any inappropriate actions as these comments can be extremely dangerous," Trethaway said.
Police determined "that at no time was there a specific threat to any individual or school," he said. "I also want to commend the students and parents who cooperated in the investigation and provided information regarding this incident."
"I share parents, students, and staff concerns for safety, and I want to assure you that every comment involving a threat is taken seriously," Trethaway said. "I apologize for the inconvenience but the decision that was made was out of an abundance of caution and in the best interests of the staff and students."
