MANCHESTER, NJ — A Manchester Township Middle School teacher has won a grant from 1st Financial Credit Union to purchase books for her class as part of their studies on ancient Egypt.

The grant, the 2019 Emma Dorrer Classroom Grant, will allow Susan Holland to buy copies of the novel "The Egypt Game" for her 7th-grade class.

"The book is high interest, and students will identify with the characters as well as the content of the book," Holland said in her grant application. "I have a unit of study with various activities and assessments to go along with the book. It is a great opportunity for the students to strengthen their reading stamina and comprehension skills. With the success of the unit I hope to inspire interest in reading novels."
