MANCHESTER, NJ — Manchester Township schools will continue to have an increased police presence through the week in response to Tuesday's Texas school shooting, the Manchester superintendent said Wednesday.

"It saddens me to share this information, however, in light of the recent events in Uvalde, Texas, and out of an abundance of caution, there will be an increased police presence at all of our school buildings and on school grounds," Manchester Superintendent John Berenato said in a message to staff, parents and students.

"I have been working closely with Chief (Robert) Dolan and the Manchester Township Police Department and will continue to do so throughout the week to ensure the safety of our school community," Berenato said.
