Snowstorm Prompts Closure Of Manchester Township Schools

The district and neighboring Lakehurst school closed as snow fell at 1 to 2 inches per hour and was expected to continue into Monday.

MANCHESTER, NJ — Heavy snowfall and anticipated dangerous travel conditions have prompted a snow day for the Manchester Township School District.

The closure was announced Sunday afternoon for Monday's classes.

"Due to inclement weather conditions, and to ensure the safety of our students & staff, all Manchester Township schools will be CLOSED on Monday, January 26, 2026. We look forward to seeing students and staff when schools reopen," the announcement said.

Lakehurst Elementary School also will be closed, the Lakehurst school district announced.

The districts' calendars do not have emergency closure days built in, so the closure will have to be made up at a later date.

Also closed are the Ocean County Vocational-Technical Schools. The vo-tech district also canceled evening adult education classes scheduled for Monday.
