Crashes Disrupt Route 37, Fischer Blvd., Police Say

Route 37 reopened at Northampton Boulevard by 9 p.m. after the crash on that road, Manchester police said.

UPDATE: The road reopened as of 9 p.m., police said.

PREVIOUSLY: The Toms River Police Department says motorists should expect traffic delays on Route 37 and on Fischer Boulevard Wednesday evening as they investigate two serious crashes.

In a post on the department’s Facebook page, spokesman Ralph Stocco said the first crash occurred on Fischer Boulevard near Merrimac Drive at 3:30 p.m. and involved an SUV and a motorcycle. The motorcyclist has multiple injuries however he is alert and conscious and will be treated at a local hospital, Stocco said.

The second occurred an hour later, about 4:30 p.m., at the intersection of Route 37 and Northampton Boulevard. This incident involved an all-terrain vehicle and a Jeep, he said. The driver of the ATV is suffering from multiple injuries and was taken to Jersey Shore University Medical Center for treatment, Stocco said.

“There are no detours in place, however traffic is down to one lane in each direction at both crash scenes as the investigation continues. More information will be released as it becomes available,” Stocco said.
