Whiting Firefighters Rescue Dog From Icy Pond

The pup fell through ice on a pond.

Members of the Whiting Volunteer Fire Company rescued a dog that fell through the ice of a pond on Friday evening, fire officials said on the company’s Facebook page.

The fire company was called by Manchester Police at 6:10 p.m. to assist in the rescue. The dog was 20 feet out, clinging to the ice with its torso and hind legs submerged. Firefighters donned survival suits and were successful with the rescue of the dog.

The dog was examined briefly by animal control and reunited with its owner.
