Basil Is Manville's Pet Of The Week

Meet Basil! He has been chosen as Manville Patch's Pet Of The Week.

MANVILLE, NJ — Meet Basil! He has been chosen as Manville Patch's Pet Of The Week.

"I would like you to meet Basil. He is the best family dog I've known. He loves playing with his human siblings along with tons of cuddling! I call him the slobber monster!

He is a gentle giant that loves people and other dogs. Basil is 8 years old and still acts like a puppy. He is such a big part of our family that I wanted to share his story.

Basil was a rescue puppy. His mom was rescued from a breading farm in Queens, New York and a day later after her being rescued, she gave birth to nine puppies (two did not survive). There were five females and two males.

When I met Basil at just 1 week of age I knew he was for our family. I picked him up and he just kept snuggling against me. He wound up sucking in my chin and gave me a HUGE hickey! I visited him almost everyday and when he finally came home with me at 6 weeks he was already comfortable. No crying at all. Just a happy puppy.

He was socialized right from the start. I tell people the only thing that is lethal about him is his tongue (it will cover your face and leave it slimed). I guess we should have called him 'Slimer' but who knew lol. He is such a joy to be with and would actually be wonderful as a therapy dog."
