Manville Local Named Winner Of History Traveler Contest

The 12 winners attended Somerset County's 13th annual Weekend Journey through the Past event.

MANVILLE, NJ — One Manville local was announced the winners of the History Traveler Contest, a drawing that was held for visitors who had attended Somerset County’s 13th annual Weekend Journey through the Past event.

Kenneth Gorman of Manville was among the 12 winners in the contest.

Visitors who went to three or more historic sites during the Weekend Journey event were eligible to enter the drawing.

Entrants had the chance to win one of four prizes that included: Two tickets to the 2018 Colonial Christmas at the Jacobus Vanderveer House, donated by Friends of the Jacobus Vanderveer House; two tickets to the 2018 Holiday House Tour, courtesy of the Historical Society of the Somerset Hills; two tickets to the February 17, 2019 Five Generals Tour, provided by The Heritage Trail; and a $25 Gasoline Gift Card.

“Somerset County is rich with history,” said Freeholder Brian Gallagher. “New Jersey residents should take advantage of this free event to see all that Weekend Journey has to offer. This is a chance for history buffs to visit any of the 30 historic sites, and learn about how Somerset County and New Jersey were a part of the Revolutionary War.”
