New Checkout, Catalog Library System To Launch In Manville
Manville library to close Saturday through Monday for the necessary upgrade. eCollections are available virtually during the closure.

MANVILLE, NJ — Almost 20 years in the making, Somerset County Library System of New Jersey is launching their new upgraded checkout and catalog system to The Library Corporations CarlX product, beginning Tuesday.
The new system will be installed in all 10 of the library branches, including in Manville.
“We think patrons are really going to love the new catalog system,” said SCLSNJ Director of Operations Lynn Hoffman. “People who are accustomed to shopping for products online will find it has a very familiar feel. And our library power users will find a host of new features that will make them even better at searching the catalog.”

As a result of the upgrade all branches will be closed Saturday through Monday for installation of the system’s new checkout and catalog system.
SCLSNJ’s new checkout and catalog system will offer easier searching yielding more relevant results, a librarian-curated children’s catalog, innovative account management features, effortless integration with eBooks and eAudio, and an intuitive layout and user experience.

Installation will begin at 5 p.m. on Friday and conclude at 9 a.m. Monday. During that time, the SCLSNJ catalog will be completely unavailable.
- You won’t be able to view your library account online.
- You won’t be able to search the catalog for materials.
- You won’t be able to use your library card to log into online research resources and databases.
However, SCLSNJ’s eBook and eAudiobook collection will be available throughout the three day closure by visiting somerset.overdrive.com.
"We're excited about how easy it will be to find our materials using our new checkout and catalog system from The Library Corporation. SCLSNJ has a fantastic collection, and this upgrade to our system will help us showcase all of our books, DVDs, CDs, eMaterials, and more. The search feature for finding the next book in a series is particularly useful," said East Area and Warren Twp. branch manager Lauren Ryan.
During the closure, books will not due and patrons can wait until Tuesday to return all items without accruing late fines or other fees. Any holds waiting on shelves beginning Friday will remain on the shelf through Thursday.
Wish Lists or Borrowing History should be saved before 5 p.m. on Friday. This information will not be saved or transferred into the new system. To do so, visit a library branch, or download how-to instructions here.
