3 Intruders Escape From Maplewood Neighborhood In Stolen Car: Police

A Maplewood man saw three strangers in the neighborhood and called police. They left in a stolen car, police said.

MAPLEWOOD, NJ — Police said that after a Maplewood man called them about three intruders in his neighbor's backyard, they left in a stolen car.

Police said that a resident of Alden Place contacted them Wednesday around 9:12 a.m. to say he saw three unknown male juveniles in the neighbor's back yard.

The man then said that the juveniles began to walk down his driveway and around his vehicle.

He said that one of the males walked up to his front door, so he yelled out to them.

They fled in a dark-colored vehicle toward Springfield Avenue, police said.

Police were able to capture a license plate on the vehicle. It turned out to be a stolen car from Montclair.

No homes or vehicles were entered, police said. The car got away.
