Author Recalls "Pulling Taffy"

Author Tinky Weisblat will recall her lively, "pleasantly demented" mother Jan/Taffy, who grew up in Maplewood, on June 5 at the Maplewood Library.

Author Tinky Weisblat will speak and sign books on Wednesday, June 5, at 7 p.m. at the Maplewood Library. The topic will be her new book, Pulling Taffy: A Year with Dementia and Other Adventures.

The book follows the ups and downs of Jan Weisblat, Tinky's mother, in the last year of Jan's life. Jan, who grew up in Maplewood, had Alzheimer's disease.

The story Tinky tells includes journal entries about caring for Jan (whom her daughter called "Taffy"), history, meditations, and family recipes. It is about dementia and about death.
