Forget Your Brackets - Go Florida Gulf Coast University!

They came, they saw and they are conquering! Florida Gulf Coast University is giving new meaning to March Madness!

A Cinderella Story, playing out on national television. Florida Gulf Coast University, a 16 year old university, with a basketball team in only its second year of tournament eligibility. A number 15 seed cracking the sweet 16. Unheard of!

Georgetown found out the hard way that miracles still exist, losing 78-68 during the opening round. Maybe the Hoyas came out over-confident or perhaps they just had their worst game at the worst possible moment. Or maybe, they were simply beat by the better team because following that upset the Eagles went on to knock off San Diego State 81-71 Sunday night.

The ride doesn't get any easier though. Next up, the mighty Florida Gators at what is sure to be a packed Cowboy's Stadium. That's 80,000 fans in attendance! Can the young men from the unknown school continue on their improbable journey? We'll find that out short enough but for now let's at least familiarize ourselves with a team that epitomizes why we as Americans love the underdog.

There's Eagles Head Coach Andy Enfield who says he learned rather quickly what stardom can do. In forgetting to turn off his phone before trying to get a few hours of sleep after the Georgetown win, he was startled awake by incoming calls and text messages. You make a lot of new friends when you win!

Sherwood Brown, a Senior Guard is the Eagles leading scorer,  Brett Comer, a sophomore runs the point and Benard Thompson, another sophomore Guard has been lighting it up on the offensive end. Will the ride continue this weekend into the final four? Well, that's why they play the games!

Oh, and my decision to bounce FGCU from the first round when I filled out my brackets. So sorry about that but heck, could you blame me? Continue making history boys. America has your back!
