Sandy and Rahman Karriem Support Higer, Payne-Parrish and Swanson for School Board

We believe that our school district should serve all, not just some, of our students well.  We know that placing and keeping students in a ‘low’ level at an early age can have disastrous and long term impact on their self esteem, performance, and ultimately their success.  We believe that all of our children will be best served by a district that “levels up,” creating a challenging and engaging classroom experience that encourages every child to succeed.

The issue of leveling has been at the forefront of debate between candidates for the school board for many years, and this year is no different.  We support the candidates who believe that every student should be held to high expectations, and that every student should graduate with an education that prepares him/her for post-secondary success.  That is why we are enthusiastically supporting Jennifer Payne-Parrish, Amy Higer and Tia (Karen) Swanson.  Jennifer, Amy and Tia are intelligent, dedicated, passionate, open-minded and collaborative individuals who will work to make sure that all of our children have access to an excellent education.      

Jennifer, Amy and Tia are not single issue candidates and they have no hidden agenda.  They’ve been refreshingly clear about where they stand on the issues, and have been unwavering in their commitment to raising the bar for all students and closing the achievement gap.         

To build on the progress the district has begun to make, we urge you to vote for Amy Higer, Jennifer Payne-Parrish and Tia Swanson on April 17^th.
