U10 VILLAGERS SEASON CULMINATES WITH DIVISION CHAMPION
U10 Travel Softball Team has an exciting end to its season!

The U10 Villagers Softball team started their season with an exciting 13-12 win over Mountainside in extra innings and never looked back. The rising 5th and 6th grade girls played ten games in their division, going 9-1 for the season. They also played in three tournaments, during which they faced some very talented teams from all over New Jersey. The Villagers used their challenging tournament experiences to improve their level of play both at bat and in the field.
The Villagers one regular season loss came against Long Hill on July 5th, and Long Hill finished the season 10-0 in the division. Under Parkway Invitational Softball League rules, the top two teams in the division play one another in a single championship game. On Tuesday, July 24th, the Villagers traveled to Long Hill to face the only team that beat them and the only team against whom they had never scored a run. The Villagers came out swinging, scoring two runs in the first inning. The Villagers benefitted from excellent pitching and played nearly flawless defense, and the girls manufactured two more runs against Long Hill’s very talented team. In the end, the Villagers won the game 4-2, capturing the National East Division Championship, which may have surprised the Long Hill players and spectators, but not the Villagers coaches and parents, who knew that their girls had not only learned enough to pull off the victory, but also recognized the special chemistry this set of girls has on and off the field. It was the perfect end to an exciting season!
