We Decide 2012/Romney's Tax Returns-Obama's response

Mitt Romney's last minute tax extension. Obama's campaign team springs into action wanting to know what the GOP candidate has to hide.

Late Friday, Mitt Romney, the presumptive GOP Presidential candidate sent word that he would be filing his tax returns late, within the next six months. According to a Romney spokesperson, the returns quote "will be filed when there is sufficient information to provide an accurate return." Six months from now would be Oct. 13, weeks before the Presidential election.

Quickly, the President responded questioning Romney's quote "lack of transparency." Obama's campaign manager Jim Messina took it a step further saying that he wants to know what Romney has to hide, a theme that is sure to last as the former Massachusetts governor’s personal wealth becomes an even hotter topic leading up to the general election.

Taking aim at Romney’s wealth, is part of team Obama’s plan to drive home the need to raise taxes on millionaires, the so-called Buffett Rule -- a requirement that millionaires pay at least the same tax rate as middle-class Americans but there's more to it than just that.  Romney's decision to seek an extension gives team Obama an opportunity to call Romney secretive, an impression the practicing Mormon wishes to avoid.

Earlier last week, the Vice President took aim at Romney during a campaign speech in New Hampshire when he asked those on hand, quote: “how many of you have a Swiss bank account? And how many of you have somewhere between $20 and $100 million in your IRA?”

For now, this looks like a direct hit by team Obama.
