Dance the Night Away with Lydia Johnson Dance
Lydia Johnson Dance, the acclaimed contemporary dance company and school based in South Orange/Maplewood, will host a dance party on December 2 at 7:30 pm at the Maplewood Club.
In addition to enjoying light fare, cocktails, and music, guests can take swing or hustle lessons from professional dancers then put their new moves to the test on the dance floor. The evening will also feature a silent auction of local goods and services.

The celebration benefits the company, which was founded in 1999 by choreographer Lydia Johnson. LJD has been consistently praised for its distinctive choreography, which uses components of ballet woven seamlessly into a contemporary dance vocabulary. The company has performed 10 full seasons, and has presented studio showings at performance spaces in New York, including the Alvin Ailey Citigroup Theater, The Dicapo Opera Theater, Peridance Capezio Center and City Center Studios. LJD has performed at both the internationally known Jacob’s Pillow Dance Festival and in New York's Downtown Dance Festival.
The Maplewood Club is located at 489 Ridgewood Rd. in Maplewood. Tickets are $125 or $75 for parents of LJD students and are available at www.lydiajohnsondance.org.
