At 1:30 p.m. well known Star-Ledger columnist and author Mark Di Ionno will discuss the Revolutionary War in the Watchungs, with special mention of the work, The Uncertain Revolution, of his friend and mentor, John Cunningham who has recorded and popularized NJ history for more than 70 years. Visitors can view an historical display on the local settlers who participated in the Battle of Springfield. They can also meet members of the 3rd NJ of the Brigade of the Revolution reenacting soldiers of the period in the house and on the grounds.
Another special feature will occur at 3:00 p.m. when Maplewood resident Ann Wilson will exhibit her collection of George Washington inaugural buttons. These rare buttons were made and worn at the time our first President was sworn into office in 1789.
