Four Cars Stolen From Maplewood In 5 Days, One From Church: Police

Of four cars stolen in Maplewood last week, two were recovered, each in a different town, police said.

MAPLEWOOD, NJ — Four cars were stolen from Maplewood during Jan. 12-19, the police said, and two were recovered in different towns. There were also two car burglaries.

The Reports

During the overnight hours of Thursday, Jan. 12, thieves rummaged through an unlocked vehicle on Union Avenue, police said. Among the items taken: a spare key to a neighbor's car.

That night, police say, someone took an unlocked Honda CRV from a driveway on the same street. The vehicle was recovered in Newark several hours later by the Newark Police Department, police said.

At night on Friday, Jan. 13, someone took a Hyundai parked at St. Andrew Kim Church, the owner told police. The owner reported that it had been locked.

On Sunday, Jan. 15, someone stole an unlocked Honda Pilot with the keys inside, from a driveway on Courter Avenue, police said. It was recovered in Irvington.

Some time between Sunday afternoon and Monday night, an unlocked Mazda was stolen from a driveway on Colgate Road, the owner told police.

Also on Monday, someone entered a parked, unlocked Dodge Durango on the 1800 block of Springfield Avenue. A black wallet and black Puma bag were taken, the owner said.
