Kari's Cafe Hits 72 Percent of Rent Goal
Cafe owner Kari Capone hosts party to raise $5,000 for rent
If you have been following Maplewood Patch for the past week, you have surely been reading about Kari Capone, owner of Kari's Cafe, and her attempt to keep her business going.
This past Friday, the cafe was the site of a rent fundraiser party. Between 8:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m., several dozen customers walked through the doors and enjoyed tasty hot and cold beverages, delectable desserts baked by Julie Pauly—the Able Baker—and listened to the music of the newly-formed-for-the-night Kari's Cafe Quartet.
The quarter featured Kari's Cafe customers and musicians: Gregory Jones on Bass, Jon Strauss on drums, Deandre Hampton on saxophone, and Capone on vocals.

According to Capone, the fundraiser brought her $500 dollars closer to her goal of $5,000 due by December 15. Capone is striving to raise the money to keep the cafe doors open and the coffee brewing As of late Saturday night, Kari had reached about 72% of her target.
