Local N.J. Foundation Hosts 5K Turkey Trot to Help Children Battling Disease
Join Team Zoey to help children with Progeria.

On Saturday November 29, 2014, Team Zoey will be hosting their 4th Annual “Miles of Hope” 5K Turkey Trot. Since the first race in November 2009, the annual Turkey Trots have raised up to $100,000, with hundreds of participants supporting Zoey and her family. All of the proceeds from the benefit 5K Road Race and 1-Mile Fun Run/Walk go toward helping to find a cure for Progeria. This year’s event will be held in Verona Park at Bloomfield Avenue and Lakeside Avenue. Registration begins for both events at 8:30 a.m., while the 5K Road Race begins at 9:30 a.m., and the 1-Mile Fun Run/Walk starts at 9:45 a.m. Same-day registration for runners is $35 and $25 for walkers, paid by cash or check only. College and high school teams of five or more wearing school jerseys are encouraged to pre-register for the cost of $15 per runner and $10 per walker. T-shirts will be available to purchase for $10. To register go to: www.teamzoey.com
Team Zoey is an organization dedicated to raising money and awareness of progeria, a fatal “rapid aging” syndrome afflicting 114 children across the world. The Progeria Research Foundation (PRF) works closely with Team Zoey in hopes to educate and develop treatments for children suffering from the rare disease. In May 2014, the PRF reported the first evidence of medical trial treatments increasing the lifespan of a child with by an estimated one-and-a-half years. The support and dedication of the families and their communities are the reason behind these milestones.
Join Team Zoey and run for those 114 children and their futures.
