Maplewood Fire Department Handled More Than 6,000 Calls in 2018
All the services cost the average homeowner s little over $600 a year, according to the FMBA L25.

MAPLEWOOD, NJ - The average cost of $600 per homeowner allowed the Maplewood Fire Department to respond to more than 6,000 calls in 2018, according the FMBA L25.
The exact number of incidents responded to was 6,528, officials said.
According to the union, the town has an average residential property tax of $14,000, and only $600 out of that $14,000 is earmarked for the fire department.

That $600 funds a department made up of 43 firefighter/EMTs. They provide two services, Fire response and emergency medical service transport. Both stations in town are staffed 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year.
