Maplewood Fire Department Open House Saturday

Board the trucks, view the tools of the trade and get some nifty giveaways.

MAPLEWOOD, NJ - The Maplewood Fire Department is inviting residents down to the second annual open house for fire prevention week on Saturday.

The event is set from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at Fire Headquarters, located at 105 Dunnell Road. All are welcome to attend and experience how the Maplewood Fire Department operates on a daily basis, officials said. Demonstrations on vehicle extrication utilizing the “Jaws of Life” and Roof Ventilation operations from a ground ladder will be conducted by fire department personnel.
Children will have an opportunity to see a firefighter in full gear, climb on board the fire apparatus and view some of the tools and equipment used by firefighters. Also, there will be kid’s activities, an ice truck and fire safety giveaways to take home.

The event is free and an opportunity to witness some of the professional emergency services provided to residents by the Maplewood Fire Department.
