'No Credible Threat' In SOMSD Student Social Media Post
A picture of a student with a weapon was investigated by police, officials said.

MAPLEWOOD, NJ - The South Orange-Maplewood School District and the Maplewood Police Department say that the photo of a student with a weapon posted to social media poses no credible threat to the district.
According to officials, a student approached administration with concerns after viewing an inappropriate picture of a weapon on another student’s Instagram account on Wednesday.
"Administration followed protocol and collaborated with the Maplewood Police Department, who have determined that there is no credible threat and that the building and student body are safe," officials said in an email. "We encourage families to continue to speak with your children about appropriate usage of social media, and how to handle uncomfortable situations or questionable content."
