Paperless Parking Kiosks Coming To Maplewood

Smart Meters for NJ Transit parking lots will take debit and credit cards.

MAPLEWOOD, NJ - Parking lot patrons in Maplewood will soon be able to leave their paper money at home as smart meters are coming to the town train station.

According to Assistant Administrator Jason Sieira, the Township of Maplewood will soon be installing new parking kiosks that are solar-powered Smart Meters that will improve service and reliability. As a bonus, the new meters come without a pay increase.

Smart Meters will accept debit and credit card payments from most major cards. For those who still carry a change purse, there will still be the option to pay by coin. The only restriction is these parking kiosks will no longer accept paper bills.

The Smart Meters are Pay by License Plate, which means no more typing in the wrong space numbers or trying to decipher faded parking space numbers. Users just punch in their license plate number at the kiosk.

The Smart Meters will be located at the Maplewood Train Station on Dunnell Road and the plaza near the bike rack and benches on Maplewood Avenue and Baker Street.
